It’s the best time of the year for wine drinkers and wine makers alike at the moment. Having just completed an incredible harvest for the 2016 vintage we are looking forward to presenting you with the fruits of our labour.
As wine drinkers you can look forward to an incredible and exclusive vintage from our Waitaria Bay vineyard. It is the most remote vineyard in Marlborough – best accessed by boat. This vineyard is certified organic and our unique blend consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. We are expecting the unique characteristics of the vineyard and the Misty Cove style to be represented in the wine itself - it’s down in the barrels now so bring it on.
We have our first wild ferment Sauvignon Blanc from our exclusive Waihopai block in the tank and it is foaming away nicely. The first taste indications are unreal. Keep an eye out for this one, as it will bring the Waihopai quality to the market at a price point that will shake things up…
We have invested in some new Burgundy wine barrels which our Misty Cove Signature Chardonnay 2016 and Misty Cove Signature Pinot Noir 2016 will be matured in. As wine drinkers you guys will be experiencing some top quality wines as a result. Due for release in 2017.
Lastly, the Misty Cove crew have been harvesting close to 24/7 for around four weeks throughout the harvest period. It’s a massive effort, so thank you to all involved - we’re pumped to see how this effort has been rewarded with an exciting 2016 vintage.
