The Fifth Innings
Pinot Noir 2016
The 2016 Marlborough vintage delivered some good solid weather during the ripening period where warm sunny days were followed by cool nights. This unique combination of climate, soils and terrain is what makes the region stand out on the world stage, and this is best highlighted with the Fifth Innings.
The vintage resulted in Pinot Noir bunches with nice small berries and good skin to juice ratio, resulting in great colour and flavour for the wine.
Whole bunch fermentation and aging in new French barrique makes the wine instantly appealing with impressive complex notes on the nose showing spiced cherry, dark plum, dried herb, cedar and floral aromas.
The palate is concentrated and elegant at the same time, offering wonderful fruit purity brilliantly enhanced by a silky texture and deep savoury undertones. A fine wine that is refined and engaging, wonderfully structured by fine, firm tannins.
Limited production with only 3400 bottles available; each bottle individually numbered.
