Pinot Noir 2017

Our Signature wines are deeply influenced by old world wine making techniques, lovingly handcrafted in small batch quantities, we craft these wines to reflect the “Signature” – the attributes and characteristics of the vineyard from which they originate. 

Beautifully ripe fruit combines with some gentle extraction that gives rise to a rich and concentrated wine that shows red/black cherry, cured meat, floral and mixed spice characters on the nose. The palate is juicy and brightly flavoured with rounded mouthfeel and elegant fruit weight, nicely framed by polished tannins. 

Misty  Cove Signature Pinot Noir can be best enjoyed with a wide range of dishes including lamb, beer, venison, duck, wild meats, mushrooms or cheeses. 


Wine Notes

Fruit is grown in our Northbank and Rapuara vineyards, having differing clones 115,10/5, 777 & 667 contributes individual characters and layers of complexity to the blend. The fruit is given a cold soak for 7 days and then wild fermented before aging in French barriques for 11 months. Having beautifully ripe fruit combined with some gentle extraction has given rise to rich and concentrated parcels of wine that have been blended to make our Signature Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes

The bouquet is full of red plums, raspberry and black cherry overlaid with integrated oak spice. The rich palate shows ripe, red berry fruit and cherry flavours with a lingering fruit sweetness. Tannins are fine and integrated, making the wine immediately approachable, setting this distinctive Signature Pinot Noir apart from the rest.
