2021 Landmark Series

This one's for all the wine geeks out there. This Marlborough Sauvy is actually a Sur Lie (French for 'on the lees'). If you know what lees ageing is, then ya know. But if you don't, Sur lie is the process of allowing a finished wine to continue to sit on the lees during fermentation in order to extract all those yummy complex flavours. So if you wanna geek it up, that's fine. We love our Landmark Sauvy 'cause it tastes bloody awesome.

THE LANDMARK SERIES

Our Landmark Series wines are a step up in class and showcase specific sub regions or vineyards where we produce them - hence the 'Landmark' label. Every story has a beginning, and so it is important to us to recognise the place from where our wines began their journey. That's key to our Landmark Series.

Expert Opinion

94 Points (5 Stars)

2021 Vintage

"Classically styled and expressed showing mango, citrus peel, feijoa and kiwifruit characters on the nose, followed by a powerfully flavoursome palate offering terrific fruit intensity and vibrancy. Mouth-watering and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2025."

91/100

2021 Vintage

"Initial impression verges on luscious, but the fine, lively acidity kicks in and balances subtle sweetness and gives the wine a crisp, dry finish. A tangy sauvignon with pleasing purity and an ethereal texture."

"Pristine and gorgeously fragrant, the wine shows passionfruit, kiwifruit, nectarine and kaffir lime characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is intensely flavoured and persistent. Instantly appealing and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2022."

"Soft, rather mellow and moderately concentrated sauvignon blanc with tropical fruit, capsicum, guava and pineapple flavours supported by gently tangy acidity."

Winemaking

We love sur lie (French for "on the lees") as it extracts flavour and enriches the palate. Lees aging (6 months) prior to bottling has developed mid-palate weight adding to the intense fruit characters. Fruit sourced exclusively from our Fareham Lane vineyard adds to greater depth and complexity. Fruit hand harvested and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless settle tanks after gentle pressing. We have used the best strains of yeast most suited to the distinctive aromatics of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
