2022 Limited Release

Some wines are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. The truth is… in terms of winemaking is you often playing with the deck of cards dealt by Mother Nature. The key is to be smart enough to know when you’ve been dealt a great hand and take advantage of it...

That’s the concept of the ‘Maker’s Cut’. When our winemaker’s discover an extraordinary small parcel of goodness; when a vintage gives them gold, we let them loose and this vintage we have returned, once again, to our beautifully aromatic Gewürztraminer.

The concept is simple: small batch, superstar fruit and wine made extraordinarily well.

CREATING LEGENDS

Maker’s Cut is identified by our winemakers in the vineyard and worthy to stand alone. There are no limits to this wine, other than it is made exclusively in small quantities, making it rare, to be enjoyed by a lucky few. The inaugural release is the first time we have produced a spectacular Gewürztraminer from our Fareham Lane Vineyard as the fruit was simply too good to ignore.

2021 Vintage

"Complex and beautifully perfumed on the nose with lychee, orange peel, apricot and mixed spice aromas with a hint of savoury nuance. The concentrated palate delivers fleshy texture and opulent mouthfeel backed by bright acidity, finishing wonderfully long and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2026."

Winemaking

The 2022 Gewürztraminer was the prize of the vintage as the fruit was well proportioned, beautifully ripe and tasted like Turkish Delight straight off the vine. After being hand harvested and gently handled into the winery, the juice was fermented in new and older Acacia Barrels – adding that extra luxury to the palate. The wine was fermented dry and aged for 6 months before being lightly filtered prior to bottling in December.
