2022 Limited Release

Our barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc is named after a boat called Tamāhine (or the ‘Tam’). The ship kept the North and South Island of Aotearoa-New Zealand linked for close on 36 years.

It’s a story of Marlborough’s heritage - of connecting people. But it’s also a story of determination and grit – and the ship was most famous for very rarely missing a crossing, despite seeing some vicious storms in its time.

We thought of no better way to celebrate Sauvignon Blanc and winemaking in the region than with nod to this iconic passenger vessel. Here we have created a magnificent barrel fermented Sauvy B that has complexity, depth, texture, purity of fruit flavour and freshness.

Tamāhine

Translated, Tamāhine means “daughter” in Te Reo Māori - pronounced (ta-maa-hi-ne) it was the name of one of Marlborough's most iconic ferry vessels - connecting the North and South Island - the historic boat is truly one of our unsung heroes.

95 Points (5 Stars)

"This is wonderfully stylish and engaging, showing grapefruit, apricot, lemon zest and oatmeal characters on the nose. The palate delivers excellent weight and depth, wonderfully complemented by refined texture and bright acidity. Gorgeously harmonious and complex, finishing impressively long and satisfying. The wine was fermented and aged in 20% new French barriques and 80% older barrels for 7 months. At its best: now to 2030."
