2024 Estate Series Pinot Noir

From the ancient riverbed soils of Marlborough’s upper Wairau Valley comes a Pinot Noir that doesn’t just talk the talk — it struts. Bold yet elegant, Misty Cove’s Estate Pinot Noir channels the raw beauty of our beautiful region into something seriously stunning. We're really proud if this one.

Think ripe cherries, strawberries, and a whisper of plum, wrapped in silky tannins and just enough oak to keep things interesting. Hand-picked, hand-plunged, and aged 10 years in oak barriques to perfection, this is Pinot with personality — fresh, juicy, and unapologetically Marlborough.

Perfect pairing

This wine is a perfect companion to a variety of flavourful dishes, such as roasted duck, savoury mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, or your Sunday night lamb roast. It also shines as a crowd-pleaser for your al fresco summer lunches, beautifully complementing a charcuterie and cheese board.

Winemaking

The 2024 vintage in Marlborough delivered exceptional conditions for Pinot Noir, with a warm, dry season allowing for extended ripening and outstanding fruit concentration. The fruit was hand-picked at optimal ripeness. Each parcel was then fermented in small, open-top fermenters and hand plunged up to three times daily to ensure thorough tannin and colour extraction from the skins. The wine was then gently pressed and aged in oak barriques for ten months, further enhancing its structure and complexity, before being bottled in early summer. The result is a Pinot Noir of remarkable balance, intensity, and elegance.

"A powerful wine for one so young. Ultra-pretty and packed with plump cherry, berries and baking spices on the nose and palate lead the way to layers of liquorice, dark, savoury layers, loveheart lollies, black tea and revealing slight salinity on the finish. The tannins are deliciously chewy and accentuate its length of flavour."

"Very bright red ruby hues with a pink rim lead to a vibrant and fruity bouquet of raspberry, boysenberry and plums. Refreshing and new with a whole berry carbonic quality then berry flavours that reflect the bouquet. Fine fruit tannins and acidity add texture freshness to a youthful and vibrant palate."

"Very bright appearance with ruby and purple highlights lead to a bouquet of variety and youth. Aromas of red and dark skinned cherry fruits, boysenberry and red plums, plenty of fruit spice with some barrel toast qualities. A dry fleshy and fruity wine touches the palate first, flavours reflect the bouquet then tannins and acidity set the frame in place. Taut and dry, youthful, salivating and trim. A wine that needs some cellar time to settle in properly to then showcase its true self."

Savory and juicy with sliced cooked strawberries and some flowers. Medium body. Fruity at the end. Shows pinot character.
