Perfect pairing

This big, bold Pinot is perfect with a a Kiwi grilled lamb with rosemary, venison, or a hearty beef Wellington. It also pairs beautifully with roasted duck, wild mushroom risotto, and grilled kumara (sweet potato) and veggies, bringing out their earthy flavours.

Ripe red berries like raspberry and cherry, mixed with a hint of violet and spice. Silky yet structured, with soft but firm tannins that give it real depth. Flavours of dark plum and cranberry kick in, with earthy notes and just a touch of oak, creating a wine that’s both bold and refined. The smooth finish and fine texture showcase the true grit of Marlborough, with plenty of potential to age and develop over time.

Winemaking

The 2024 season has been exceptional for our Pinot Noir, with a cooler spring leading to a 27% reduction in yields, but allowing the vines to thrive under a lighter crop load, resulting in more concentrated fruit with remarkable purity. El Niño’s hot, dry conditions through the summer brought earlier ripening, capturing vibrant, well-defined fruit flavours. Hand-harvested from our home block in the Wairau Valley, the fruit was treated traditionally to highlight the natural fruit concentration and ripe tannin structure. After 10 months of maturation in 35% new French Oak and 65% seasoned French Oak, only the best barrels were selected, resulting ina wine that truly captures the essence of the vintage.

Dish Magazine

"A very deep and enticingly youthful style with pure aromatics of dark berry compote, spiced plum and black cherry intensity. Dark, brooding and deliciously balanced, it’s hard not to be wowed by its forest floor impressions, its energy and its complexity and approachability."

Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"Excellent core hues of red and ruby with a pink and fuchsia rim. Aromas of dark plums and black raspberry flesh, cherry and baked summer berry pie. Barrel spices and stony mineral qualities add complexity and intrigue. Youthful and vibrant, fresh and new. Delicious on the palate, dry, juicy, fleshy and vibrant with flavours of crushed red berries, plums and barrel spices. Well made, very bright and lengthy, a wine that needs development time in your cellar."

"Gorgeously ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, thyme, clove, and roasted nut characters, followed by a succulent palate that's beautifully weighted and richly textured. Tannins are fine and well-infused, making it flavoursome and highly enjoyable."
