2024 Limited Release Tamāhine
The 2024 Tamāhine isn’t your everyday Sauvy B—it’s layered, textured, and built to make you slow down and pay attention. Citrus, apple, and tropical fruits kick things off, with that unmistakable Marlborough minerality threading through. There’s a touch of smoke, a lift of lemongrass, and a rich, satin-like feel before the acidity snaps everything into focus. It’s mouth-filling, complex, and lingers long after your last sip. Share it with the whānau if you must, but honestly, this one’s worth keeping close.
Tamāhine takes its name from the first ferry to connect North and South, braving the Sounds and Cook Strait. Like its namesake, this wine balances tradition with boldness—fermented and aged in French oak, it shows both power and elegance. It’s a Sauvignon Blanc with cellaring potential, a bit unconventional, and completely Marlborough at heart. Whether it’s crayfish off the grill, mushroom risotto, or just good company, Tamāhine is made for memorable moments.

Tamāhine
Tamāhine (pronounced ta-maa-hi-ne) was the name of the first ferry connecting New Zealand’s North and South Islands, making its way through the stunning yet challenging waters of the Marlborough Sounds and the turbulent Cook Strait—a true unsung hero. Like the Tamāhine, this wine is both complex and unconventional, paying homage to winemaking traditions while pushing the boundaries of Marlborough’s Sauvignon Blanc.

Perfect Pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with rich dishes like buttery grilled crayfish (lobster), crab bisque, or creamy seafood pasta. For meat lovers, its acidity balances the richness of roasted duck or pork belly, enhancing their savory depth. Earthy dishes, such as mushroom risotto or truffle-infused recipes, also work well, with the wine’s oak influence complementing the creamy textures

Winemaking
Tamāhine reveals a richer, more refined side of this iconic variety, highlighting its impressive cellaring potential. Crafted from perfectly ripe fruit, the wine is fermented and aged for 7 months in a mix of 15% new French oak barriques, 15% older barrels, and stainless steel tanks. The result is a magnificent wine with exceptional complexity, depth, and texture, while maintaining the purity of its fruit flavours and refreshing vibrancy.

"Ripe, fresh, youthful, purity of fruit scents layered between those of cold stone minerality and a quiet white spice layer. Aromas of lemon and red apple, passionfruit and bell=pepper, all ripe and fresh. Crisp, salivating and dry with a satin touch just before the acid line kicks in. Flavours mirror the bouquet with a mineral intensity and freshness. Lengthy and well made."
