Our epic Waihopai legacy continues with this super sexy new drop. Coming straight out of left field is this beautifully Pétillant, lightly effervescent (gentle fizz) creation made from 60% Pinot Noir & 40% Chardonnay.


We're calling it right now: Champagne-style sparklers are out and rustic, pétillant (French for “sparkling”) wines are in. This is some seriously boujee boho vino - and definitely a must for the posh parties you have planned. Table this on your next dinner party, wedding, or simply chill this one for the patio.

The name originated from the first vintage in 2019 and our Waihopai Valley Vineyard, which has an amazing variety of high-quality fruit in smaller volumes. Pushing boundaries, the concept has now expanded and is morphed into a philosophy of trying to achieve a special “blended” wine that is completely different each vintage; produced from any subregion within Marlborough.

"Delightfully charming and joyful with pale salmon in colour, the wine shows ripe strawberry, apricot, orange peel and blossom nuances on the nose, leading to a brightly expressed palate displaying juicy fruit flavours with a slight spritz, finishing long and refreshing. 60% Pinot Noir & 40% Chardonnay. Pinot Noir saignee was fermented and aged in older French barriques and Chardonnay portion was fermented and aged in Perle de Quintessence – both for 7 months. At its best: now to 2025."

Winemaking

Harvested in small ripe parcels from our Fareham Lane Vineyard, the Pinot Noir saignee was fermented and aged in older French barrique and the Chardonnay portion was fermented and aged in Perle de Quintessence – both for 7 months.

The final blend was decided after careful consideration resulting in 60% Pinot Noir & 40% Chardonnay and bottled on 11th of November 2022 with a light petillant on the palate.
